Subash Baoli

The place is name after Eminent freedom fighter Subash Chandra Bose during his secret visit.  A nice Secluded place.

Subhash BaoliLocated at a distance of 1 Km from Dalhousie is the picturesque site of Subhash Baoli. The place has been named Subhash Chandra Bose, the famous freedom fighter had spent a lot of time in the region in the year 1937.  Subhash Baoli is a charismatic spot circumscribed by huge towering trees. The natural spectacle of the place makes is one of the most popular tourist spots in Dalhousie. Subhash Baoli is famous for the captivating view of the snow capped peaks that it offers. It is here that Subhash Chandra Bose sat and meditated during his stay at Dalhousie. Other sources say that he would drink water from this lake. But at the monument itself, you'll find a large plaque that bears his story. He was very attached to this area. And so, when he died, a small shelter was built here so anyone inspired by either him or the surroundings, or even both, can sit here and find peace. The same historical location is now provided with seating arrangements where tourists can sit and enjoy the natural panorama of the overlooking mountains which gives a canvas like feeling. The majestic mountains and the canopy of the blue sky reverberates the memory of the great hero of Indian independence.

Board at Subhash BaoliSubhash Baoli Spring, at an altitude of 2,085 m, is a natural water spring. It is one of the prime attractions of Dalhousie. Encircled by majestic trees, the place is blessed with scenic vistas of snowcapped mountains. The spring is about 2 km away from the GPO square. You can also walk around this area. Even though it’s not exactly tucked away or off the main road, there is a sense of peace here. The moment you break away from your group and stand in silence looking at the lake, you are filled with a sense of wonder and the fact that one is so small in comparison to nature. Opposite Subhash Baoli is a breathtaking waterfall ending in a glacial stream. It's an easy walk up to the source of the stream and if you decide to take it, you will be walking through the forests, over flat stones. You can actually stand at the base of the waterfall without getting wet and let the water form a transparent cave around you. Once you pull yourself away from this spot, you can stop at the tiny tea shop which blares Bollywood music and has a small fire going to warm its visitors. So easy to get to and so unassuming at first glance, Subhash Baoli will surprise you with the amount of time you’ll end up spending there.
