Sirmaur is the southern most district of Himachal Pradesh with an area of 2,825 square kilometers. The district of Sirmaur i is divided by river Giri into two parts, the cis-Giri and the trans Giri.

Nahan is the district Headquarters. Nahan is a pleasant looking town on a ridge of the Shivalik Hills. Nahan was spotted as the place fit to be the capital.

Altitude: varies, it is low like plains to high altitude upto 3900 mts. at peaks like Moginand, Chur, Sain etc.

Climate: hot in summers and cold in winters.

By road: Delhi-Nahan is 260 kms. Shimla-Nahan 142 kms.
