Kullu derives its name from Kuluta or Kulanatpeetha, "the end of the habitable world". Today it is a bustling tourist town with Manali in its vicinity. The district does not have forts; it could probably be because no need was felt to have fortification, as the terrain of Pir Panjal ranges of the Himalayas are steep and inhospitable. Well, what to say about kullu is, Kullu valley is gifted with every thing that you can imagine. The Marvelous landscapes, hospitable, peaceful & co-operative people having distinct life style & culture are some of the points that separate Kullu from rest of Himachal Pradesh.
