These two district Una and Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh are more known for their pilgrimage touring. Una is connected by a broad gauge railway line via Roopnagar (Ropar) and by road via Chandigarh. It can also be reached by Shimla through Bilaspur and Bhota.
Una lies in its south western part. On the September 1st of 1972 the Govt. of Himachal reorganised the Kangra district into three seperate districts namely Una, Hamirpur and Kangra. The famous places of Una are Chintpurni Goddess temple, Dera Baba Barbhag Singh, Dera Baba Rudru, Dhunsar Mahadev Temple Talmehra, Shivbari Temple Gagret, Joggi Panga, Dharamshala Mahanta and Mini Secretariat. On January 11th of 1991, Una has been provided with railway line by laying 14 Kms broad gauge track from Nangal (Punjab) to Una. Una district is well developed in the industrial sector due to close proximity to Punjab. Mehatpur, Gagret, Tahliwal & Amb are main industrial centres of Una. Punjabi, Hindi, Pahari are common languages spoken. In winter, climate is cool, woolen clothes required. In summer, climate is hot, cotton clothes required. From July to September, it is rainy & humid.
Hamirpur is hilly area covered by Shivalik range. Hamirpur is situated between 76º 18' to 76º 44' East longitude and 31º 25' to 31º 52' North latitude. There are three principal ranges which run in a South-Easterly direction. It is situated at lower elevation and comparatively warmer but has some hilly ranges covered with Pine forests. This district was made in 1972 by carving it out from the Kangra district. It is well connected by roads from all sides. At present the known tourist attractions are Deot-Sidh, Temples of Sujanpur Tira and Nadaun. Hamirpur town is the Headquarter of this District, which lies on Shimla Dharamshala road. Majority of the population here are Hindus. Bulk of the people speak Pahari. Hamirpur is the most Literate district in Himachal Pradesh. The majority of its population fluently speaks Hindi. Beas river flows through the northern part of and Satluj river flows through the southern part of district Hamirpur. Both of these two rivers namely Beas and Satluj are the famous rivers in Himachal Pradesh.
