With no urban centres, Pangi is entirely rural. From a cluster of villages, Killar, the administrative headquarters is gradually taking the shape of a town there are several Government offices located here and the number of Shops is steadily increasing. Pangi valley is coterminous with the territory sub-division, tehsil and development block.

Killar, the headquarters of the Pangi sub division, is a charming hamlet situated in a deep and narrow gorge of the Chenab River in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh. Killar was originally a cluster of villages but gradually it has taken the shape of a town with more and more offices and shops added from year to year. It is located at the center of the SKT Road (Sansar-Killar-Thirot Road) and is about 45 km from Rohli. Killar is famous for its charming dances and rich natural beauty. It is also a suitable base for trekkers venturing to Kishtwar, through Umasi la into the Zanskar Valley, and to Keylong and Manali. One the way to Lahaul, one will come across the beautiful spot of ' Purthi', renowned for a historical guest house on the banks of Chenab and a fine nursery. A temple devoted to lord Shiva is located near Government Hospital. Another Shiva temple has recently been built in the official  colony near Government Senior Secondary School.

HOW TO REACH / GETTING THERE /ACCESS :

Air :  Amritsar airport is there. Jammu airport is 188 kms. Both are connected to Delhi by Indian Airlines and by Vayudoot flights. Also Pathankot has Airport which is connected with Delhi. Pathankot is shortest among others.

Rail : Pathankot is nearest Railhead to visit Chamba.

Road : Killar, 137 km north east of Chamba is situated in the deep and narrow gorge of Chenab river. Killar is approchable by road from Chamba side & through Kyelong also, the more frequently visited road is from Keylong to Killar, along the chenab river. Other way is from Chamba via Sach Pass, which is motorable only from July end to Septemeber & is a lesser travelled road to Killar. Road is not good from Chamba to Killar. Keylong is not the shortest but a safer option for Killar.

• Dharwas : Dharwas is a picturesque village situated in Chamba District of Himachal. It is the largest village in the Pangi Valley. Dharwas is famous for the natural spring of mineral water, Tilmili. Dharwas is an ideal base for trekking.
• Purthi : Purthi is a picturesque village located 24 km from Killar in Chamba District of Himachal. Purthi is famous for its forest nurseries. A historical Forest Rest House is set in the beautiful surroundings of the village. Chenab River flows nearby.Nearby destinations are Traila, Sach Village, Mindhal Basan Devi Temple, Raoli.
• Pangi Valley : Pangi Valley, situated in the upper part of Chamba, is perhaps the most attractive valley of Himachal. Often referred to as trekker’s paradise, it is a remote area sandwiched between the Pir Panjal and the Himalayan Zanskar ranges. Pangi is famous for its natural beauty and its altitude ranges from 18,000 ft to 21,000 ft.
